Parks

entrance to Sun Tree parkThere are two parks in River Place: Sun Tree Park and Woodlands Park. The River Place Municipal Utility District (MUD) maintains both.

Sun Tree Park is at the intersection of River Place Boulevard and Big View Drive. The park has a pavilion, charcoal grills, shaded swings and jungle gym, benches, soccer field, gazebo, and exercise area.

Woodlands Park is at the bottom of the last hill on Big View Drive along the shores of Panther Hollow that feeds Lake Austin. The park has a pavilion, charcoal grills, swings and jungle gym, practice soccer fields, benches, and many large shade trees.

Board Walk

The Board Walk is across Big View Drive from the Woodlands Park overlooking the pond. The Board Walk provides benches for enjoying the view of the pond and is at one end of the nature trail. The River Place MUD maintains the Board Walk.

The Nature Trail meanders through a wooded preserve area within River Place. The ends of the trail are at the bottom of River Place Boulevard near the country club and the Board Walk. The trail follows the path of Panther Creek as it travels to Lake Austin. It provides a very peaceful walking environment with benches for resting and enjoying the view. The River Place MUD maintains the Nature Trail.

Scenic Overlooks

There are three scenic overlooks along River Place Boulevard and Big View Drive. The overlooks have benches and shade for enjoying a panoramic view of the community.

Country Club

The River Place Country Club is a private club that provides golf, tennis, fitness, swimming, dining, and social activities.

LISD Schools

The Leander Independent School District (LISD) provides three schools to serve the children who live in River Place:

  • River Place Elementary School serves children in grades K through 5. It is located on Sitio Del Rio Boulevard off of River Place Boulevard within River Place.
  • Four Points Middle School serves children in grades 6 and 8. The school is located off of McNeil Drive.
  • Vandegrift High School servers children in grades 9 through 12 and is at 9700 McNeil Drive.
